About Us
We love Santa Clarita and are fortunate and proud to live and raise our families in this wonderful community. Since its incorporation in 1987, our founding fathers, councilmembers and city staff continue to work tirelessly to maintain our quality of life, manage growth, improve public safety, win awards, put on high profile events and so much more. At santa-clarita.com (one of the best city websites we've seen) you can see the results of 21 years of hard work.
With growth has come challenges: Proposed Elsmere Canyon Land Fill, clean up of Whittaker-Bermite, Cemex Mining Project awaiting legislation - just a few of the many important issues our city councilmembers have faced. HMNMH campus expansion development agreement is nearing conclusion after almost four years and the Smiser Mule Farm project is being planned by developers as The Gateway to Santa Clarita. All while completing the cross-valley connector, developing OVOV and working on Old Town Newhall Redevelopment.
During a recent holiday gathering several amazing women began chatting about the possibility of an elected mayor with so many vital issues being juggled at any given time. Our city has matured and outgrown the "honorary" revolving one year term of mayor. Our mayors don't have the opportunity at long range vision, planning and implementation. Time constrains their direct involvement with our wonderful city staff who are burdened to put together compact recommendations and evaluations on every issue before the council. We concluded that being Mayor of Santa Clarita is a full time job. We decided to see how many like minded residents would join us.
